The Challenge Student Ministries

Why is it important to invest in youth ministry?

Youth are our future; they require an invested interest and support to ensure our future develops healthily. This investment involves engaging youth in community activities and broadening their social networks in an atmosphere that emanates the love of Christ.

Many youth today are at risk of having issues with personal growth and identity development, a lack of skill and knowledge in goal setting, leadership and decision making, and are engaged in problem behaviours such as criminal behaviour, bullying, drug and alcohol use and negative academic outcomes.

Engagement in positive youth events is associated with reduced negative behaviours, building of self-identity and self-esteem, and an overall positive outlook and investment in being a constructive contributor to society. Engagement also enables the strengthening of peer relationships within positive and supportive networks. The Challenge Student Ministries Youth Group is invested in making a difference in the lives of our youth.

What is The Challenge Student Ministries all about?

The Challenge Student Ministries is a group of students in the heart of Port Credit intentionally living out the call of Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is
—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Guiding Values

The Challenge Student Ministries Youth Group emanates the love of Christ within evolving interest and diverse needs of youth by promoting the 3 “I’s”: Inspire, Inform, Involve.

Inspire:

Building positive and meaningful relationships with youth and the families we serve allows for a genuine and trustworthy network that paves the way to mentoring and inspiring growth and change in youth.

Youth are challenged to be an ongoing positive impact in the lives of people within both their community and globally and to be intentional in the legacy they are forming. An emphasis is directed to the unique abilities of the youth and the resilience and strength given to them in the likeness of God.

Inform:

Providing information and direction that aims to empower young people to make informed decisions and positive life choices.

Practical and biblical information are provided in a warm and welcoming atmosphere on matters relevant to their personal, social and vocational development, which empowers young people to actively participate at a local, national and international level.

Through dialogue and observation, youth are provided resources to recognize and develop their skills and abilities, and to solve problems in a manner which helps develop their autonomy and relationship with God.

Involve:

Alongside inspiration and information, initiatives are provided for youth to implement what they have learned about themselves and the world they live in and engage them in outreach and community work. Youth are motivated to exercise their skills and abilities and apply what they have learned in opportunities to actively participate at a local, national and international level.
